Clunes plays the hapless GP of Portwenn village and the TV series charts
his day to day adventures as a GP. The doctor is called Martin Ellingham
but the locals call him Doc Martin. And co stars Caroline Catz as the
village of Portwenn school teacher.
The Bay Hotel is seen in Episode 5, Series 4, as Wenn House, home of Portwenns most prominent family, the Wenns. Doc Martin made several housecalls to Wenn House after Theo Wenn fell ill, presumably as a result of being locked away in Aunt Joans chicken coup. Filming of the last series of Doc Martin took place both outside and inside Wenn House showing The Bay Hotel accommodation. Series 5 was filmed in Port Isaac during 2011 and televised from autumn 2012.
